This week our street has been taken over by the HGTV people, who are here to film a new episode of Curb Appeal: Block Party, to air sometime this spring. There are cars and trucks parked all up and down our street and the cross street at the beginning of the cul de sac, so it's been a bit hard to get in and out of the neighborhood. Add to that all the construction going on (the city is rebuilding the road behind our house), and it's just one big mess! And it will be this way for all of January as they do the construction and filming for the next three weeks. So if anyone wants to come meet John Gidding (the show's host), come on over! We had a deep conversation about tea (he prefers peppermint) yesterday, so we are BFFs now.

Thursday they were doing interviews with the three neighbors of ours whose houses are getting the makeovers, and at the end of the day, they wanted to get some neighbors' reactions about the whole thing. Against my better judgment, I let myself be interviewed, and worse, Livian recorded it with our camera so I can watch it and nitpick myself to pieces. Livian and Avalie also were interviewed, and they did a really good job. Livian is so well spoken, and she had some good quotes about the middle school bus stop, which is right in front of one of the makeover houses. We've heard the HGTV people are incorporating a bus stop into the plans... but we shall see.

Today is the design reveal day, so I've spent all morning outside sitting in my driveway babysitting my neighbor's little boy and chatting with my other neighbor as we watch the TV shoots and interviews. John Gidding and his entourage have been hanging out in front of my house quite a bit today, as that is where they parked one of their many vehicles and their snack table for the day.
Craziness.
